Preparedness and mutual assistance support services for TRUstworthy cyber-resilient operations in traNSPORT and related industrial sectors
Overview
TRUNSPORT is a European Union funded initiative designed to strengthen the cybersecurity preparedness, protection, and resilience of Europe’s transport sector and other critical infrastructures that rely on Operational Technology/Information Technology. In response to the sector’s growing exposure to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, TRUNSPORT delivers an innovative Cyber Security Hub, a one stop platform integrating three core modules: 1) Preparedness Support Services (threat and vulnerability assessments, risk evaluations, and mitigation planning), 2) Human Shield Strategies (training, awareness, and social engineering protection), and 3) Mutual Assistance Support (collaborative incident response, intelligence sharing, and cross sector cooperation).
A key innovation within TRUNSPORT is the Generative Artificial Intelligence-supported Critical Infrastructure System Mapper, which enables organisations to visualise their systems, receive tailored cybersecurity recommendations, and assess their alignment with the requirements of the NIS2 Directive.
TRUNSPORT validates its solutions through four real world use cases across road, air, water transport, and a cross sector energy scenario, and further expands reach through an extensive Open Call Programme engaging additional critical infrastructure operators.
Objectives
Analyse the cybersecurity landscape per NIS2, identify vulnerabilities and compliance gaps, and strengthen protection of critical infrastructures.
Map transport industrial operations and critical infrastructure, identify key assets, and assess workflows and interdependencies for stronger resilience.
Improve vulnerability assessment through penetration testing of networks, applications, cloud, industrial control systems, and IoT, securing critical infrastructures.
Offer standardised cyber ranges for testing transport systems and conducting realistic cross-border cyber exercises.
Assess and strengthen industrial cybersecurity, improving incident management and providing expert recommendations for infrastructure protection.
Provide Artificial Intelligence-driven threat and risk assessments, analysing real-time data and scenarios to strengthen cybersecurity resilience.
Provide a Risk Monitoring Service that ensures continuous attack-surface monitoring and ongoing assessment of assets and vulnerabilities.
Deliver the Cyber Support Hub as a one-stop platform for cybersecurity guidance, services, and resilience for critical infrastructures.
Engage stakeholders through Open Calls targeting cross-sector, cross-border entities that provide critical infrastructure and essential services.
Collaborate with EU cybersecurity alliances, sharing knowledge, technologies, and exercises to strengthen collective industrial cybersecurity.
eBOS Role in the Project
eBOS plays a central and multi-layered role in TRUNSPORT, contributing both technically and strategically throughout the project. As the organisation leading all Communication and Dissemination activities, eBOS shapes the project’s public presence by developing its communication strategy, managing its digital channels, and coordinating stakeholder engagement.
On the technical front, eBOS contributes to the design and development of the TRUNSPORT Ecosystem and the Cyber Security Hub. This includes co-defining system architecture, supporting cybersecurity landscape assessments, and leading the creation of the human–machine interface for the platform. eBOS also develops critical Artificial Intelligence-driven features, such as the Generative Artificial Intelligence Chatbot, which enables automated analysis of infrastructure maps and delivers tailored cybersecurity recommendations.
Additionally, eBOS supports solution validation, user feedback analysis, and the project’s cyber hygiene and sustainability assessments, ensuring TRUNSPORT’s outcomes remain user-centred, aligned with regulatory requirements, and impactful for transport and critical infrastructure operators.
