The 6G4Society project hosts its General Assembly meeting in Brussels

The 6G4Society project convened its General Assembly meeting on November 26-27, 2024, at PSC Europe in Brussels, Belgium. Giota Lilli, R&D Project Manager, represented eBOS at this pivotal two-day gathering, bringing together leading experts and stakeholders to discuss the project’s progress, evaluate key achievements, and plan the next steps in advancing sustainable and inclusive 6G technology for society.

The 6G4Society project aims to develop sustainable and socially accepted 6G technologies that address societal challenges and drive innovation. Supported by the SNS JU and coordinated by MAR, the project involves a consortium of leading organisations, such as CEL, NOVA, PSC, and D4P, working collaboratively to shape the future of digital connectivity.

Day one kicked off with updates from the leaders of the project’s work packages. Our Project Officer, Chiara Mazzone, participated physically on the first day of the meeting and shared her thoughts and insights for deeper understanding and collaboration among the project partners. Presentations highlighted the outcomes achieved during the first year and detailed the roadmap for the upcoming year, with a focus on:

  • Exploring the societal impacts of 6G, developing technology acceptance models, and identifying sustainability indicators;
  • Strategies for effective public engagement and creating explanatory packages on 6G technology;
  • Synergies with other initiatives and coordination towards sustainability and technology acceptance frameworks;
  • Communication, exploitation, and standardisation efforts, including strategies for dissemination and sustainability;
  • Project coordination.

On day two, discussions centred around refining action plans to align with European Commission expectations. Sessions covered risk management, ethics, and data management, ensuring the project adheres to high quality and compliance standards. The meeting concluded with an open discussion on the next steps, upcoming milestones, and future meetings.

eBOS plays a vital role in the 6G4Society project by leading WP4, which focuses on communication, dissemination, exploitation, and standardisation activities. Their efforts ensure the project’s outcomes are effectively promoted and aligned with industry standards while maximising impact. eBOS also leads the exploitation and sustainability strategy, conducting market and research analyses to guarantee the long-term viability of the project’s results. Additionally, eBOS oversees quality and risk management, ensuring high standards and proactive mitigation of challenges. They actively contribute to synergy planning with other 6G initiatives, support the development of a Technology Acceptance Model, and participate in events to promote the project and its objectives.

This 24-month project has received funding from the SNS JU under the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme and officially started on January 1, 2024, under Grant Agreement No. 101139070.
