Unified Service Platform Over multi-VEndor Telco Cloud InfrastRuctures, ExposInG beyond ConNectivity services in 6G networks

Duration: 01/09/2026 – 31/08/2029
Total Funding: € 14,880,660.90

Overview

The 6G telco cloud is poised to become a hybrid, multi-technology environment, with communication, computing and acceleration resources increasingly being offered by hyperscalers and multi-Mobile Network Operator (MNO) Federations, aiming to support the deployment of future-looking Digital Services. To succeed, the future 6G Telco Cloud is expected to converge Information Technology (IT) and Networking Technology (NT) platforms into a unified continuum of resources and introduce full automation to manage their lifecycles.

To make this vision a reality, SOVEREIGN-6G delivers the first 6G Telco Cloud in Europe, which will serve as the foundation for future-looking Digital Services aggregated and exposed through a groundbreaking Unified Service Platform. To this end, an evolvable experimentation infrastructure is delivered, integrating 6G sites across Europe and serving as a playground to test breakthrough 6G technologies for the future telco cloud. A Digital Service Orchestrator provides Service Level Agreement (SLA) assurance over a dynamic composition of heterogeneous resources (e.g., compute, network, Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)) in this hybrid, multi-technology Telco Cloud Continuum environment.

SOVEREIGN-6G is structured around three pillars: Pillar 1 is delivering a new Unified Service Platform, as a Digital Service Aggregator envisioned to operate in increasingly complex ecosystems involving multiple stakeholders; Pillar 2 involves integrating IT, Operational Technology (OT) and NT platforms in a telco cloud continuum, alongside breakthrough 6G enablers; and Pillar 3 delivers a Native AI Edge, addressing distributed inference, sovereign Edge AI workloads acceleration, and physical awareness via multi-modal sensing. Together, these three pillars help address the main challenges that will mark the successful transformation of Communication Service Providers (CSPs) to Digital Service Providers (DSPs).

Objectives

1

Deliver a European 6G Telco Cloud experimentation infrastructure to integrate and validate breakthrough technologies across interconnected EU test sites.

2

Develop an open-source Unified Service Platform (USP) enabling the discovery, composition and deployment of beyond-connectivity digital services.

3

Automate service orchestration and intent fulfilment using Generative AI, Network Digital Twins and CAMARA APIs.

4

Deliver an AI-Native Edge Infrastructure supporting distributed AI inference, AI lifecycle management and intelligent edge services.

5

Converge IT, Networking, Operational Technology and Edge AI into a unified orchestration continuum with end-to-end SLA assurance.

6

Validate the platform through advanced 6G use cases covering representative network and customer workloads.

7

Maximise impact through dissemination, standardisation and exploitation of the project’s results.

eBOS Role in the Project

eBOS will lead Communication, Dissemination, Standardisation and Exploitation, coordinating the promotion and communication of SOVEREIGN-6G results to maximise the project’s visibility and impact among industry, the research community, academia, policymakers and the wider public. eBOS will also lead Quality Assurance and Risk Management, defining and monitoring the project’s quality procedures and supporting the continuous identification, assessment and mitigation of risks throughout the project.

On the technical side, eBOS will contribute to Unified Service Platform implementation & integration, where it will lead the development of the user-facing Marketplace Portal and related interfaces for accessing services exposed through SOVEREIGN-6G. eBOS will also contribute its Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP) solution to support secure access and Zero Trust principles in the project’s multi-domain telco-cloud environments.
