SENTINEL-EMP Project Officially Kicks Off in Cyprus!

On 22nd October 2025, the SENTINEL-EMP project (System for Enhanced Threat detection, Interception and soft-kill Neutralisation of Lethal drones) held its official Kick-Off Meeting in Nicosia, Cyprus. This 36-month European defence research project, fully funded by the EC, officially started on the 1st October 2025.
The meeting was hosted and chaired by eBOS Technologies Ltd, acting as the Project’s Coordinator, and brought together representatives from all consortium partners: eBOS (Cyprus), SignalGeneriX (Cyprus), ASH (Slovenia), University of West Attica – UNIWA (Greece), and National and Kapodistrian University of Athens – NKUA (Greece). The eBOS team was represented by Ms Frini Lazarou (Project Coordinator), Dr Loizos Christofi (R&D Director), Dr Marios Sophocleous (R&D Senior Project Manager), and Ms Myria Petrou (Digital Designer).
Throughout the day, partners presented the project’s vision, objectives, and work structure, engaging in productive discussions to align on the technical and management processes that will guide the project’s successful implementation.
SENTINEL-EMP aims to develop a disruptive Very Short-Range Air Defence (VSHORAD) system to counter hostile drones, including swarms of micro, mini, and small Class I Unmanned Aircraft Systems. The system pioneers the use of programmable medium-calibre shells capable of releasing Electromagnetic Pulses (EMP) to disable drones’ electronics without explosives, offering a soft-kill, low-collateral solution with a minimal acoustic signature.
The kick-off meeting marked a successful start to this ambitious European collaboration, setting the foundation for the development of an innovative, scalable, and cost-effective defence solution that strengthens Europe’s defence resilience and technological sovereignty.
