HARPIA-Defence Kick-Off Meeting in Athens Showcases eBOS Role in Next-Generation Defence Ecosystem

On 9–10 December 2025, eBOS participated in the HARPIA-Defence Kick-Off Meeting in Athens, Greece, hosted by the iKnowHow coordination team. The two-day event brought together all seven Consortium partners to present their teams, align on the project vision, explore the technical roadmap, and plan the next steps for a successful start and implementation.

A key highlight of the meeting was the transition from the HERMES project to HARPIA, which serves as the backbone of the new defence ecosystem. During a dedicated session, eBOS presented how HERMES’ achievements in secure data exchange, AI-driven cyber defence, and autonomous systems protection now evolve into HARPIA’s more advanced architecture for resilient, proactive intelligence assessment.

The agenda also highlighted HARPIA’s innovative technical capabilities, with presentations covering remotely operated surveillance networks, autonomous cybersecurity components, secure, blockchain-enabled communications, zero-trust access control, and advanced AI-driven threat detection. A large part of the meeting focused on WP3 Design Definition activities, in which partners jointly explored the architecture of key HARPIA subsystems, laying the foundation for the system’s qualification, compliance verification, lifecycle optimisation, and use-case validation.

eBOS plays a central role in HARPIA, building on its previous experience coordinating the HERMES project, which laid the foundation for secure data exchange and AI-driven cyber defence of autonomous military systems. eBOS leads the design of the central operational interface and the AI-driven zero-trust secure access system. Additionally, eBOS drives the overall Quality Assurance, Risk Management and Dissemination & Communication activities, ensuring HARPIA’s innovations meet European defence standards.

HARPIA marks a significant step forward for European defence by combining secure communications, advanced AI, and autonomous operations, built on the strong technological foundation established with HERMES. eBOS is proud to contribute to this new chapter in defence innovation!

The eBOS team was represented in person by Elisavet Grigoriou, R&D Program Manager, who led the proposal preparation, and Christos Skoufis, Deputy Head of R&D Projects and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
