GENIUS Project Successfully Launches with Kick-Off Meeting in Aveiro, Portugal
The GENIUS – 6G connEcted eNvironments for logIstics and mUltimodal tranSportation project officially launched with its Kick-Off Meeting, held on 2–3 July 2026 in Aveiro, Portugal, bringing together all consortium partners to initiate the project’s collaborative journey.
GENIUS will pioneer next-generation 6G-enabled, connected, intelligent, and automated transportation and logistics ecosystems through a diverse portfolio of use cases spanning road, air, maritime, and multimodal environments. These include
- UAV-assisted transport of medical samples,
- UAV-supported ground logistics,
- Automated airport baggage handling,
- Smart apron ground-handling operations,
- Automated vehicle logistics within maritime ports,
- Edge-assisted autonomous driving in port terminals.
During the two-day meeting, partners presented the project vision, objectives, and planned technical activities, while engaging in productive discussions on the use cases, system architecture, and implementation roadmap. The event also featured demonstrations of the existing testbeds and baseline use case environments, providing a common understanding of the technological foundation on which the project will build its innovations.
The Kick-Off Meeting established a strong collaborative foundation for the consortium, aligning partners on the project’s objectives and the work ahead. Over the coming months, GENIUS will focus on developing innovative technologies that leverage 6G connectivity, AI, edge computing, and advanced automation to deliver safer, more efficient, resilient, and sustainable logistics and transportation services.

eBOS will play a key role in the GENIUS project by contributing to both the technical foundation and the strategic impact of the project. It will lead the definition of the project use cases, requirements, and key performance and value indicators, while driving the design of the overall system architecture and enabling technologies to ensure a coherent and scalable framework for the GENIUS solution. From a technical perspective, eBOS will design and develop three core AI-driven security assets: an AI/ML-based anomaly and threat detection engine for the identification of cyber threats, an AI-based decision engine that recommends optimal mitigation actions based on the detected risks, and an AI-driven Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP) solution to enable secure, adaptive, and context-aware access management. In parallel, eBOS will lead the project’s communication, dissemination, exploitation, and business modelling activities, ensuring the effective promotion of project achievements, fostering stakeholder engagement, supporting standardisation efforts, and defining sustainable exploitation strategies that maximise the long-term impact and market uptake of the GENIUS innovations.
