eBOS Participates in the METACITIES Project Plenary Meeting in Athens
On the 6th and 7th of February, the METACITIES project, titled “MetaCities Excellence Hub in South-Eastern Europe,” held its plenary meeting in Athens, Greece. This 48-month EU HORIZON Coordination and Support Action project officially started on the 1st of January 2023.
Representing eBOS, Dr. Ioanna Ioannou, R&D Senior Project Manager, participated in the meeting alongside the project’s twenty-one partners, who gathered to review the project’s progress, discuss their joint R&I strategy for smart cities, and plan future work. Participants then mapped out plans and actions for the coming months, focusing on practical steps to ensure the project’s successful advancement.
The METACITIES project aims to establish an Excellence Hub that spans a large geographical area, that of Southeastern Europe, represented by three ecosystems in Cyprus, Greece and Bulgaria.
Each ecosystem consists of partners involved in the Quadruple Helix (i.e., scientific, industrial, social, public) who collaborate to design common digital Research and Innovation strategies, policies, and joint pilots for the benefit of citizens, stakeholders, and local ecosystems, ultimately supporting the growth of the Southeastern European region.
eBOS has successfully led and concluded the elicitation of socio-techno-economic requirements that will guide all research activities related to the Open Digital Twin Framework specifications for the smart cities’ ecosystem. eBOS also leads the Dissemination and Communication activities, ensuring visibility of the project activities through several traditional and electronic dissemination and communication materials. Moreover, eBOS significantly contributes to the design and execution of small-scale pilots and demonstrators. These pilots, serving as experimental zones, will explore different aspects of the defined Smart City Cases. Lastly, eBOS plays a crucial role in the project as the quality assurance and risk manager, ensuring that all project activities meet high standards and that potential risks are effectively managed.
