eBOS Participated in the RAPTOR Kick-off Meeting

On May 26th, the project RAPTOR ‘Remote Weapon Condition-Based Monitoring System’ held its physical kick-off meeting in Poznan, Poland. This 36-month EU-funded Research Action, funded under the European Defence Agency, officially started on the 1st of May 2025.

Our colleagues, Dr. Marios Sophocleous, R&D/R&I Senior Project Manager, and Ms. Frini Lazarou, R&D Project Manager, participated in the physical kick-off meeting, which was chaired by Dr. Piotr Tyczka, representing ITTI SP ZOO (ITTI) as the Coordinator of RAPTOR. The kick-off meeting was attended by all five consortium partners: ITTI (Poland), eBOS (Cyprus), EXUS (Greece), AIMPLAS (Spain), and the Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain). During the meeting, partners presented RAPTOR’s overall vision, which aims to achieve predictive maintenance of firearms by co-designing and co-developing, together with end-users, a low-cost, application-specific Condition Monitoring System.

In RAPTOR, eBOS holds a high-level and multidisciplinary role, monitoring the overall progress and quality of technical work. eBOS is also responsible for tracking the project’s milestones, ensuring that the scientific and technological outcomes align with the project’s work plan and that the results meet the technical requirements necessary to achieve the project’s goals. Moreover, eBOS leads the Dissemination and Communication activities, developing and implementing strategies to maximise visibility and stakeholder engagement. This includes establishing the project’s visual identity, maintaining communication channels (website, social media, newsletters), creating impactful content, and organising project-related events. Additionally, eBOS leads the market potential assessment, conducting detailed market analyses to identify opportunities for the successful commercialisation and long-term sustainability of RAPTOR solutions.

Finally, eBOS coordinates Work Package 6 ‘Detailed Design Definition’, leading the comprehensive design of the RAPTOR system architecture. In this context, eBOS oversees the definition of detailed technical specifications and leads the design and development of user dashboards, intuitive interfaces, data management infrastructure, and dynamic, resilient communication layers, ensuring seamless interoperability among all system components.

The kick-off meeting marked a successful start to a collaborative effort aimed at advancing condition-based monitoring technologies in defence applications, ensuring improved weapon reliability, operational readiness, and long-term sustainability.
