eBOS Participates in ASTEP Project’s Month 54 General Meeting in Madrid

eBOS is proud to announce our participation in the ASTEP project’s Month 54 General Meeting, held from October 28-30, 2024, at the National University of Distance Education (UNED) in Madrid, Spain. As a key project Consortium member, our involvement underscores our commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions and innovative technologies in the solar thermal sector.

Gianna Avgousti, our R&D Project Manager, represented eBOS at this important meeting, where we connected with project partners to discuss critical developments within the ASTEP project. The event began with an insightful visit to TecnoGetafe, where attendees toured the SunDial workshop and gained first-hand experience of the ASTEP solar thermal system’s operation and decommissioning processes. This session provided invaluable insights that will inform our future applications in the industry. The meeting included in-depth discussions facilitated by the 24th Scientific & Technical Committee (STC), providing strategic guidance regarding the project’s scientific and technical aspects and ensuring our alignment with industry standards.

Throughout the second and third days, the partners engaged in extensive discussions about the project’s technical progress, ensuring the objectives aligned with the overall goals. Updates on project dissemination efforts were also shared, covering key areas such as the Solar Helix, website performance, data management, and social media strategy. One of the highlights of the meeting was the announcement that testing at the two case study sites (Mandrekas dairy industry/Greece and ArcelorMittal Tubular Products/Romania) has already begun yielding promising results, marking a significant advancement in the ASTEP’s collective mission to deliver efficient solar thermal systems tailored for industrial use.

The M54 General Meeting represented a pivotal moment for the ASTEP project as we transitioned from research and development to the final preparations for commissioning the ASTEP system. We are excited about the collaborative discussions that took place, which will help shape our future efforts and ensure that our innovative solutions meet industry needs while contributing to sustainability goals.

As part of eBOS’s role in the ASTEP project, we lead the development of the ASTEP dashboard, which will enable the assessment of the measurements performed against the expected key performance indicators (KPIs) using the latest state-of-the-art web technologies. Thus, we support the project partners in monitoring the novel solar energy concept results demonstrated in two case studies. We also maintain the project’s website, design and distribute newsletters, and ensure the quality of project deliverables and effective data management.

The ASTEP project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No. 884411.
