eBOS participated in the 6th plenary meeting of the FLEXI-cross project

The FLEXI-cross project partner, eBOS, successfully hosted the 6th plenary meeting in Cyprus at the Classic Hotel in Nicosia from October 2nd to 3rd, 2024. The meeting was held in person, with nearly all project partners in attendance. Work package leaders presented progress in their respective areas, with particular attention given to Work Package 2, where the development of all toolkit components takes place. A key highlight of the meeting was a roundtable discussion on integration, which has become a critical focus. As the leader of the integration task, eBOS provided an update on the installation and configuration of the integration server, as well as the deployment of all modules and the coordination between different infrastructures and the integration environment.
The second day of the meeting featured a live demonstration attended by representatives from FRONTEX and the FLEXI-cross project officer. Use case leaders presented their integrated modules and demonstrated specific scenarios that showcased the innovation and practical application of the toolkit. These live demos highlighted the significant progress made in the project, emphasizing the toolkit’s ability to meet its objectives and provide real-world solutions. The collaboration among partners during the meeting further strengthened the project’s trajectory towards successful implementation.
The FLEXI-cross project focuses on developing and continuously validating a toolkit of cutting-edge border control solutions in real-world operational environments. These solutions aim to enhance the security and reliability of border checks for both people and goods, while improving the overall efficiency of border management. By enabling flexible and dynamic border check planning, the project introduces innovative capabilities such as mobile support for border personnel and the ability to deploy checkpoints dynamically, all while maintaining the highest standards of security, data privacy, and protection of fundamental rights.
The design and architecture of these solutions are grounded in the specific technical and service requirements of EU border authorities, such as Frontex. The toolkit will also ensure seamless integration with the existing systems and devices currently used by these authorities, offering a more cohesive and robust approach to modern border management.
eBOS contributes to the technical aspects of the project by developing two Human-Machine Interface (HMI) layer modules: the Organizational Risk Assessment and the Visual Analytics Dashboard. These modules are designed to provide authorities and Border Control Point (BCP) personnel with a comprehensive, statistical overview of the various risks or events identified by the toolkit, helping them make informed and timely decisions.
Additionally, eBOS leads the dissemination, communication, and exploitation activities of the project. Their efforts focus on engaging the public and industry experts to raise awareness and maximize the impact of the toolkit’s innovations.
