eBOS participated in the 6th General Assembly meeting of the DESIRED project

On 10–11 April 2025, eBOS participated in the 6th General Assembly meeting of the DESIRED project, hosted by Warsaw University (UW) at the Centre of New Technologies (CeNT) in Warsaw, Poland. The hybrid meeting marked two productive days of discussions and collaboration, chaired by Project Coordinator Prof. Angela Dibenedetto (CIRCC) and Technical Manager Prof. Michele Aresta (IC2R). Partners from Italy (CIRCC, IC2R), Austria (AEE INTEC), Czech Republic (Charles University), Cyprus (eBOS), Poland (University of Warsaw), and Spain (IMDEA Energy) attended the meeting either in person or remotely. eBOS was represented by Dr. Panayiotis Klitou, R&D Project Manager.

Throughout the meeting, partners discussed recent progress and outlined next steps across several key areas, including the development and characterisation of new-concept photocatalysts for C2+ production, the design and engineering of the novel concept reactor, and the validation of the integrated DESIRED fuel production system.

The agenda also covered the ongoing sustainability assessment, as well as activities related to dissemination, communication, outcome valorisation, and exploitation of project results. eBOS presented the project’s achievements in dissemination and communication, outlining a roadmap for upcoming actions in the months ahead, as well as the initial steps toward designing the lifecycle assessment dashboard for the DESIRED fuel production system.

The DESIRED project aims to establish the technological feasibility and sustainability of a novel fuel production system for direct coprocessing of atmospheric CO₂ and water, generating energy-rich multi-carbon (C2+) products using sunlight as the primary energy source. The overarching ambition of the project is to make CO₂ photoreduction into multi-carbon solar fuels a practical, sustainable, secure, and cost-efficient chemical process for converting CO₂, water, and solar energy into marketable products—whether as fuels or as intermediates for drop-in fuels and chemicals.

Within the DESIRED project, eBOS is responsible for designing and developing a web-based interactive data visualization dashboard, tailored to meet the needs of diverse target audiences. This dashboard will visually represent the integrated life cycle sustainability assessment results of the DESIRED fuel production system. Additionally, eBOS leads the Quality Assurance, Risk Management, and Data Management efforts for the project, as well as multidimensional dissemination, communication, and clustering activities.

This 48-month EU-funded Research and Innovation Action, funded under the Horizon Europe programme, officially started on November 1, 2022, under grant agreement number 101083355.
