eBOS participated in the 5G-MILNET General Assembly meeting in Sophia Antipolis, France
On May 6th and 7th, 2026, the 5G-MILNET consortium gathered in Sophia Antipolis, France, for its Year 1 General Assembly meeting. Hosted by EURECOM, the meeting brought together all seven project partners to evaluate the first year’s progress and align on the next phases of development.
The meeting focused on the transition from preliminary requirement gathering to the preliminary design phase. Partners reviewed the initial requirements for tactical 5G infrastructure, focusing on high-speed data transfer, reliability, and low-latency communication essential for tactical environments.
Representing eBOS, Dr Gianna Ioannou and Dr Andreas Sousanis led discussions on AI-empowered Software-Defined Perimeter for secure connectivity, the preliminary design of architectural components and specifications, and on quality assurance, risk management, and the project’s intellectual property management. As the project enters its second year, the consortium is preparing for the experimental development and testing phases, scheduled to begin in the coming months.
Project Goal:
5G-MILNET proposes the design of a private, robust, reliable, portable, lightweight and cost-effective tactical 5G communications system that can be rapidly and dynamically deployed on demand within an hour on the battlefield, to enable seamless, resilient and secure, high-speed, real-time connectivity and data flow across the battlefield and for backend command and control operations.
eBOS is leading the design and definition of the 5G-MILNET’s architectural components and specifications, ensuring they meet military operational needs. eBOS is also responsible for developing an AI-enabled Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP) to protect interconnected devices from cybersecurity threats. Additionally, eBOS will coordinate interoperability testing of system components to ensure compatibility and seamless collaboration. eBOS also oversees intellectual property, risk, and quality management.
