eBOS participated in the 3rd plenary meeting of the ENVELOPE project in Budapest

On November 19th, the project ENVELOPE, titled ‘Evaluation and Validation of Connected Mobility in Real Open Systems Beyond 5GS’ held its third plenary meeting in Budapest, Hungary hosted by Commsignia. This 36-month EU-funded Innovation Action, funded under the HORIZON Europe programme, officially started on the 1st of January 2024.
Dr. Zouzias Dimitris, R&D Project Manager at eBOS, participated in the plenary meeting, which was chaired by Konstantinos Katsaros, representing ICCS. The meeting was attended by the project’s 19 partners and featured partners’ presentations on the project’s progress, technical developments and future plans. Partners also discussed the project’s work plan, challenges, and implementation schedules.
5G Connected Automated Mobility (CAM) vertical services encompass a diverse array of digital services facilitated by 5G networks. However, certain verticals possess specific requirements that remain unaddressed. Despite significant advancements in this area, the requisite configurations of the network and end-devices to support a vertical are labour-intensive manual processes necessitating significant coordination at both technical and business levels.
ENVELOPE, an EU-funded Innovation Action project, seeks to enhance the 5G-Advanced architecture and reorient it towards a vertical-centric model with interfaces specifically designed for CAM vertical use cases. These interfaces aim to: (i) expose network capabilities to verticals, (ii) provide vertical-specific information to the network, and (iii) enable verticals to dynamically request and modify certain network aspects in an open, transparent, user-friendly, and semi-automated manner.
eBOS is leading the efforts of:
- Structuring and organising the Open Calls (OC): eBOS is managing the entire Open Calls process, by raising awareness, preparing the documentation and contracting package and overseeing the help desk support set-up.
- Assessing Impact and Public Acceptance of the ENVELOPE platform by leading efforts to assess public acceptance of the platform.
- Developing an Exploitation Strategy by developing methodologies, metrics, and templates for effective exploitation plans, including business metrics, legal rights, IP rights, and individual plans.
In addition, eBOS leverages its wide experience in:
- Reference Architecture and AI Solutions to support the development of the reference architecture and AI-based solutions for managing the 5G-Advanced architecture, considering CAM services’ requirements and providing interfaces for vertical industry players.
- Market Analysis, supporting market analysis activities related to ENVELOPE innovations.
- Dissemination and Communication by contributing to dissemination and communication plans, and presenting results to key associations to maximise impact and outreach.
