eBOS Hosts HARPIA-Defence 1st Plenary Meeting in Nicosia
eBOS hosted the 1st Plenary Meeting of the HARPIA-Defence project on 21–22 September 2026 at its headquarters in Nicosia, Cyprus. The 2-day meeting brought together the HARPIA-Defence consortium for technical discussions, progress review and planning as the project approaches its first year of implementation.
The meeting provided an important opportunity for the partners to review the work carried out so far, align on upcoming activities and prepare for the next phase of HARPIA-Defence, moving from requirements and design activities towards system development and future testing.
eBOS plays a substantial role within the HARPIA-Defence consortium, contributing across both the project’s technical and innovative activities. eBOS is also responsible for key project activities covering Quality Assurance, Risk Management, Dissemination & Communication. eBOS also leads the 2 phases of HARPIA-Defence Design Definition and contributes directly to the technical development of HARPIA-Defence by implementing 2 of 9 HARPIA-Defence Technical Pillars (HDTP).
This combination of technical, quality, risk and communication responsibilities allows eBOS to contribute across different stages of the project, from supporting the definition and coordination of the technical work to helping ensure quality, manage project risks and communicate the project’s progress and results.
During the plenary, sessions focused on progress and achievements so far, the design definition approach for the individual HDTPs, associated KPIs, identified challenges and risks, upcoming activities, and the actions required for the relevant upcoming deliverables. The wider meeting also covered project management and coordination, requirements elicitation and conceptual framework definition, system prototype development planning, future use-case testing and evaluation, and KPI validation and specification elicitation.
Security and responsible development were also important elements of the meeting. The consortium held its first Security and Ethics Panel meeting, addressing data protection, ethical considerations in AI-driven surveillance and autonomous systems, cybersecurity, and cross-border data sharing and intelligence collaboration.
The meeting also included the project’s first Annual Information Security Workshop, covering collaborative tools, information security and monitoring processes.
A representative from the Research & Innovation Dept. of the Cyprus Ministry of Defence also participated in the plenary, providing an opportunity for engagement between the project consortium and the national defence ecosystem.
As HARPIA-Defence approaches its first year of implementation, the plenary served as an important checkpoint for the consortium. For eBOS, hosting the meeting brought the project partners together in Cyprus and supported collaboration on the project’s technical and implementation priorities.
