eBOS hosted the 5th General Assembly meeting of the DESIRED project

On October 23-24, 2024, the DESIRED project held its 5th General Assembly meeting in Nicosia, Cyprus. Organized and hosted by eBOS, this hybrid event was chaired by Project Coordinator Prof. Angela Dibenedetto (CIRCC) and Technical Manager Prof. Michele Aresta (IC2R). Partners from Italy (CIRCC, IC2R), Austria (AEE INTEC), Czech Republic (Charles University), Poland (University of Warsaw), and Spain (IMDEA Energy) attended both in person and remotely. eBOS was represented by Dr. Panayiotis Klitou, R&D Project Manager, and Mr. Philippos Philippou, Head of R&D Projects.

Throughout the two-day meeting, DESIRED partners engaged in in-depth discussions on the completion of development and characterization of the new photocatalysts for C2+ production, progress in the design and engineering of an innovative reactor concept, and the initiation of validation and sustainability assessments for the integrated DESIRED fuel production system. In the context of WP6, eBOS presented the project’s achievements in dissemination and communication and outlined a roadmap for upcoming actions in the following months.

The DESIRED project aims to establish the technological feasibility and sustainability of a novel fuel production system for direct coprocessing of atmospheric CO₂ and water, generating energy-rich multi-carbon (C2+) products using sunlight as the primary energy source. The overarching ambition of the project is to make CO₂ photoreduction into multi-carbon solar fuels a practical, sustainable, secure, and cost-efficient chemical process for converting CO₂, water, and solar energy into marketable products—whether as fuels or as intermediates for drop-in fuels and chemicals.
