Data Process & Technological Bricks for Expanding Digital Value Creation in European Data Spaces
Duration: 01/10/2022 – 30/09/2025
Total Funding: € 5,738,682
Overview
The emerging European Data Economy relies on the availability of data to drive innovation and the exponential development of technologies, especially the development of trustworthy ‘made in Europe’ Artificial Intelligence (AI) aligned with European values. Data Spaces, platforms and marketplaces are key enablers for unlocking the potential of such data. However, data sharing and interoperability are still in their infancy. The widespread adoption of data-sharing platforms and the availability of interoperable datasets are critical success factors for advancing the European data economy and enabling industrial transformation. Achieving a cross-border, cross-sectoral data space capable of processing proprietary, personal and open public data requires overcoming technical, legal and business challenges across the entire data lifecycle.
DataBri-X aims to develop a user-friendly toolbox that will enable the creation and integration of data spaces for data-driven applications. This toolbox will enhance data and metadata interoperability, usability, quality, and integrity while ensuring compliance with FAIR principles. To overcome the current challenges in data sharing and interoperability, DataBri-X will focus on rethinking data lifecycle practices for effective data management, advancing the maturity of data tools and services, and addressing challenges related to data ownership, provenance verification, and energy efficiency.
Objectives
Provide tools to support a holistic approach of the data lifecycle in compliance with FAIR principles.
Build on results of relevant past and current initiatives, data management tools, systems and processes that enable, support and/or automate the creation and maintenance of common ontologies, vocabularies and data models, as well as automated authoring, co-creation, curation, annotation and labelling of data, in view of different later uses made of the data.
Create links with relevant initiatives collecting/using heterogeneous/linguistic data, including AI initiatives (e.g., AI4EU, ELG, or the projects from the H2020 topic ICT-48), and liaise with standardisation bodies.
Provide tools that contribute to the minimisation of the energy footprint, be adaptable to different user needs and support and encourage new business models.
Demonstrate the usability and the value of the tools in diverse use cases.
Maximise the project’s impact and accelerate the adoption and take-up of the project in Europe and beyond through wide dissemination, communication, exploitation, commercialisation, capacity building and standardisation actions.
eBOS Role in the Project
In DataBri-X, eBOS will enhance the DataViz tool for advanced 3D data visualisation, aiming to improve the visual representation of data and enable the extraction of meaningful information to support decision-making. eBOS will integrate the results into its WiseBOS Platform to enhance dashboard functionalities, streamlining the development, testing, and deployment of innovative applications and solutions.
In addition to its technical tasks, eBOS will be responsible for the quality assurance and risk management of the project, ensuring the outcomes are of high quality and the risks are appropriately mitigated. It will also undertake the design, development and implementation of the dissemination and communication activities, with support from consortium partners, to maximise the project’s outreach and impact.
